Module - Data Organisation and Management
After completing this module, participants will be able to:
- Understand the concept of data organization within the research data lifecycle
- Explain the importance of effective data organization for FAIR RDM
- Develop a file-and-folder organization scheme tailored to your research data
- Establish and implement consistent file and folder naming conventions
- Distinguish between different types of RDM systems and their applications
All contents used for this and other modules are accessible and adaptable for reuse: they are published as Open Educational Resources (OER) on zenodo.org/communities/eth-domain-oer-rdm for anyone to integrate into their teaching or learning.

- How long does the module take? About 30 minutes.
- Do I receive a certificate? No, certificates are not provided.
- I completed the course, but it still shows as incomplete. Make sure you are enrolled in the course. Progress is only saved if you are enrolled.
- The “Next” button doesn’t work or is greyed out. A greyed-out “Next” button means you are at the end of the course and there are no additional sections.
- Can I take the course on my phone? The course works best on a desktop for full functionality and the best experience.
